HOW DO I GET TO TANZANIA?

The easiest way to reach Moshi or Arusha is to fly into Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), where you will be met by one of our team members and taken to your designated hotel. Alternative ways of getting to either town, are buses from Nairobi or Dar Es Salaam, taking anywhere from 7-9 hours.

DO I NEED A VISA AND HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

In order to enter Tanzania, most nationalities will need a passport and visa. The passport must be valid for 6 months after the intended length of stay. Visas can be obtained at the airport upon arrival, or at the Tanzanian Embassy in your respective country prior to departure. The price for a visa varies depending on citizenship, with the cost for US Passports being $100, and most European Passports $50. Detailed visa and passport requirements pertaining to individual countries can be found on the Tanzanian Embassy Website designated for the particular country.

WHICH VACCINATIONS SHOULD I GET?

The US Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDCP) recommends the following vaccinations: Malaria, Yellow Fever, Typhoid, Hepatis A, Hepatitis B and Rabies. Yellow Fever vaccination is required by the Tanzanian Government when entering the country from an infected area and you may be asked to show your vaccination record. Consult with your doctor about any additional vaccinations or medications concerning your personal circumstances.

WHY DO PRICES BETWEEN COMPANIES DIFFER?

Local Moshi Adventures is a mid-range company providing a high standard of service for a reasonable price. In addition we pay higher than average salaries to our guides and porters. While budget operators charge lower prices, often by under paying their guides and porters, as well as skimping on necessary equipment, luxury operators charge much higher prices for items not needed on the mountain.

HOW DO I TIP FOR KILIMANJARO CLIMBS?

Tipping for good service after the climb is customary. In order to ensure all crew members receive their fair share, it is suggested to collect the tip from all climbers and then have one climber say a word of thanks and distribute the tips to each crew member individually.

HOW DO I TIP ON SAFARI?

The general guideline for tipping during the safari is between $5-$10 per person/per day for your driver. It is suggested that 1 person on a 5 day safari would tip at the high end of the range at $10 per day, while 4 plus people tip at the low end of the range of $5 person/per day, ensuring a minimum of $50 for a 5 day safari.
